Senior Manager, Market Development

Develop and execute go-to-market initiatives for new locations that Digital expands into. Identify, build, and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers and partners that will enhance Digital’s ability to successfully establish communities of interest in the new market. Conduct business development activities both in advance and after data centre in new market has been built/acquired.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the success of Digital’s expansion into new markets by developing and executing effective go-to-market strategies for specific new cities.
  • Conduct market development activity before and after data centre is built / acquired.
  • Identify, build, and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers and partners that will enhance Digital’s ability to successfully establish communities of interest in new markets.
  • Communicate Digital’s value proposition and vision for the new market to internal colleagues and external customers/partners.
  • Support Investment team in the due-diligence and transaction stages of an Acquisition by providing customer and market insights.
  • Provide input to Business Case/Investment Committee memo for market entry, specifically related to strategic rationale, go-to-market strategy, connectivity approach, pricing, sales pipeline and fill rate.
  • Provide monthly reports associated with execution of the go-to market initiatives in the new location, and input into Market Strategy’s Go-to-Market review process.
  • Take action to address underperformance in execution of go-to-market initiatives.
  • Provide progress updates to senior leadership team.
  • Raise issues for consideration by Senior Executive team and recommend solutions
  • Assist with the storyboarding of market entry presentations to drive discussion at the Senior Executive level
  • Attend/participate in industry events that advance Digital’s geographic expansion strategy

 

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor's degree; MBA a plus
  • 7+ years of business experience in a technology company, ideally in the Wholesale Telecom / Data Centre / Internet provider / content distribution segments.
  • Data Centre and Interconnection market
  • Telecommunications networking, terrestrial fibre and subsea systems
  • Ability to influence and build relationships with a range of internal stakeholders (including International Sales, Segment, Legal and Finance) in order to drive customer value.
  • Well-organized and logical approach to work.
  • Execution focused.
  • A confident communicator and problem-solver, able to work in cross-functional teams and liaising with senior managers up to board level.
  • Fluent in business-level English, ideally with knowledge of at least one other language
  • Willing to travel domestically or internationally as needed
