Service Continuity & Commissioning Engineer

Service Continuity & Commissioning Engineer (SC&C) provides technical expertise and input to local Operations and Expansion teams, the HQ Operations teams and the Data Center Technology & engineering Group to ensure that technical service solution and construction design meet operational, technical and customer SLA standards and requirements, and are built by following best practices and learnings from previous builds. In addition the SC&C Engineer provides 3rd and 4th line support (problem management).

 

Responsibility 

Commissioning:

  • Attends and improves the commissioning tests of every new datacenter or datacenter expansion.
  • Ensures proper implementation of technical upgrades to the site with thorough live testing.
  • Provides technical expertise and input to service solution design, to ensure compliance with operations and SLA standards and requirements.
  • Provides technical ‘best practice’ expertise and input to operations and built-out teams in construction projects ensuring compliance with standards and requirements. Provides proper accounting of learnings from prior builds.
  • Participates in all testing (e.g. iSAT, LEVEL 4+5) and preproduction runs.
  • Ensures that all technical standards and requirements are met in the technical deployment upon finalization of the building shell, participating in all testing and preproduction runs.
  • Provides technical feedback, documentation review and build standards descriptions.
  • Provides a rough precheck on handover documentation.
  • Prepares and participates in the handover from construction to operations teams, ensures that all handover criteria are met, including trainings and instructions for local operations.
  • Coordinates activities of vendor representatives and subcontractors after commissioning (snagging) including change management, risk assessments and all administrative work.

Continuity:

  • Problem management (3rd and 4th line support):
    • Manages advance/complex problems
    • Supports Technical Operations with identify problems
    • Implements corrective actions and solutions
    • Supports by root cause analyses
    • Supports by incidents and internal root causes
    • Creates problem records / library
    • Supports the Maintenance team with contractor consultation and thorough investigation
    • Recommends corrective actions
    • Reviews if provided solutions had expected results
    • Monitors results of new implementations
    • Conducts trend analyses

Essential Knowledge

  • Knowlegde of Datacenter Operations
  • Overall technical knowledge of common electrical and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies

Qualifications

  • Educated to a technical degree at bachelor level or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years practical experience in an electro technical or industrial / mechanical environment.
  • Fluent in English and Dutch, both written and spoken
  • Skilled in performance and witness tests.Experience with Maintenance, Troubleshooting and or / commissioning tasks.
  • Experience in working with pre-defined KPIs and schedules.
  • Experience with gathering and structuring technical documentation. ITIL Knowledge (incident and problem management) is preferred
