Overview
Your role
The Optical Network Engineer, as a part of the Network Engineering Team, is responsible for building and operating the DLR network reliably and to scale. The team configures and installs network gear for our growing infrastructure including running cables, hardware setup and decommissioning old gear in support of our growth. The team must have an aptitude for accuracy and conduct site surveys and audits to verify that each network site has been built to the right specifications.
Beyond day-to-day responsibilities, they also develop creative approaches to keep operational costs low and improve the efficiency of our growing infrastructure.
You will be on the front lines of our efforts to deploy, design and maintain the DLR network. You will work with network architects, capacity management, project managers, and engineers to gather network requirements, deploy DLR private network, create and manage our network implementation/integration plans, and create physical and logical network designs. You will use your experience in networking, data centers, and colocation to establish and improve best practices and procedures. The objective is to build the world’s most reliable, cost-effective, and scalable network to support DLR customers.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills; able to own issues and drive them to resolution. Candidate must be able to work independently and in pressure situations. Defines & revises network strategies and procedures/policies. On-call work & some implementations require non-standard working hours.
