The Requirements

The ideal candidate role will have:  

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in either Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. An advanced degree (MBA, CFA, etc.) would be a plus. 
  • An in-depth understanding of and familiarity with commonly-used finance concepts and practices is a prerequisite. 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, in addition to strong interpersonal, analytical and financial data modeling skills. 
  • A high level of proficiency with the finance-related application tools of the IR trade, specifically including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Bloomberg, FactSet, Ipreo, Refinitiv, Virtua and Workiva. 
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of financial analysis experience involved in the investment decision-making process. 
  • Established relationships with key vendors including Broadridge, ISS, NYSE, MultiVu, PR Newswire and Q4. 
  • A proven track record of excellent customer service. 
  • A great attitude, a strong work ethic, and a consummately professional demeanor. 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial data and concepts into easily digestible messaging. 
  • The ability to work with cross-functional teams, prioritize assignments, multi-task, work independently as needed, and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The Role

This is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the Vice President, Investor Relations. You will be intimately involved in the quarterly financial reporting process and development of investor communication collateral materials, with primary responsibility for managing all press release publication and distribution. You will also work closely with senior management and the IR team to gain mindshare with the sell-side and expand the buy-side shareholder base. You will help coordinate a number of top-tier corporate access events, including a periodic investor day as well as a series of investor meetings and conferences, property tours, and non-deal road shows. Your key objectives will be to:

  • Help lead a best-in-class Investor Relations program in support of corporate and departmental goals. 
  • Help drive stock price outperformance relative to the REIT industry benchmark through effective communication of the company’s strategy and open, honest and transparent communication of the company’s quarterly financial results. 

Some of your specific responsibilities will include:  

  • Providing critical support to the quarterly earnings reporting process, with primary ownership of the earnings release, Q&A document and key messaging points. 
  • Shepherding approximately 50 press releases per year through the publication process, including a combination of drafting, editing, routing for comments and approval, and distributing over the relevant newswires. 
  • Organizing, coordinating and prepping senior management for approximately 20 investor conferences, 25 site visits and 25 property tours annually. 
  • Planning and delivering highly successful investor events. 
  • Driving greater mindshare within the sell-side equity research analyst community. 
  • Building relationships with the firm’s leading institutional investors to facilitate the effective communication of financial results and company strategy, enhance management and corporate credibility and continue to expand the shareholder base. 
  • Functioning as a brand ambassador with the investment community. 
  • Building a deep reservoir of internal capital to facilitate collaboration across functional groups to leverage the limited IR team resources to effectively advance the investor outreach function. 
  • Maintaining primary ownership of a +$1 million budget, including performing contract negotiations with key vendors, projecting and tracking annual expenditures, identifying cost-saving opportunities and ensuring annual spend remains within budget. 
  • Designing, managing, maintaining and updating the IR website. 
  • Supporting the firm’s frequent capital-raising activities and episodic M&A transactions. 
  • Relentlessly pursuing continuous workflow improvement to streamline processes and minimize the risk of human error. 
  • Developing deep subject matter expertise on the data center sector and the broader REIT industry as well as company-specific financial results, outlook and strategy. 
  • Performing peer group competitive analysis to inform strategic direction input. 
  • Investing time and effort into continuing education. 
  • Refining email distribution lists to enhance the targeting of communications and the effectiveness of the investor outreach function. 
  • Compiling a list of frequently asked questions and developing effective responses. 
  • Producing a data center industry primer. 
  • Continuing to evolve and enhance the company’s industry-leading financial disclosure practices.
