Location: Dublin

Your role

To apply for this role you will need to be a qualified electrician and have worked in industrial/commercial /manufacturing environment.  This is an on site, hands on role.

The Facility Engineer (FE) is primarily responsible for providing technical, preventative, and corrective maintenance according to the agreed SLAs to maximize site efficiency and optimization. The FE performs inspection, monitoring, maintenance and repairs of building and equipment in accordance with the quality standards to maximize uptime and Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE). To ensure all environmental conditions are always maintained regarding critical building systems.

What you’ll do

Overall Responsibilities 

  • Primary focus during business hours is on Facilities Engineer responsibilities
  • For the purposes of on-call and maintaining customer satisfaction, focus of this role is also given to Customer Services responsibilities as required and instructed by the direct or indirect line manager 
  • The engineer must work on attaining and maintaining an up-to-date working knowledge on all processes and procedures related to facilities including but not limited to cooling systems, access controls, fire suppression systems etc. 
  • Provides input into the creation of Operational procedures & processes such as Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), Maintenance Operating Procedures (MOPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 
  • Maintain a working understanding of Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) and escalation procedures to ensure effective First Line Facility support 
  • Ensures Operational Consistency and aligns with Company Group Standards as required

Primary Focus: Facilities Responsibilities 

  • Day-to-day monitoring and inspection of building & equipment 
  • Manage projects and drives to find root cause of facility issues. Act as escalation for more junior members of the team. • 
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks autonomously and perform intrusive maintenance tasks under supervision of more experienced engineers • 
  • Carry out first level troubleshooting of facility and rack level events autonomously. Act as escalation point for FE technicians and more junior engineers. Execute maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment to minimize downtime 
  • Monitor & direct repairs and maintenance executed by subcontractors and document the results 
  • Monitor equipment to ensure adherence to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and pro-actively indicate if SLAs are at risk 
  • Perform Quality Checks related to the facilities e.g., check relevant documentation and test reports & follow up tickets etc. 
  • React directly to incidents and events that have a potential to impact on critical infrastructure availability 
  • Work across multiple projects of a competing nature and escalate potential risks as appropriate. 
  • Assist in performing root cause analysis for operational issues that occur and is first-level response of facility and rack level events. 
  • Participate in any Infrastructural projects that require Facility Engineering expertise
  • Engage with Senior Site Engineer and Operations Management on delivery of projects related to Service Design, Customer Implementation & Infrastructure requirements.

On-Call & Shift Responsibilities

  • Participate in the full continuous on-call/shift team responsibilities and roster 
  • Represent the local Customer Services & Facilities team during out of business hours and acts as first line and second line support with respect to responses on alarms and handles or escalates alarms according to guidelines during out of hours to provide consistent customer service 24/7 
  • Future organizational needs may require the engineer to work in shift patterns to enable the 24x7 datacenter operation

What you'll need

  • 2-3 years previous experience as a technician in an electrical or industrial environment 
  • Fluent in English, both written and orally; Other European languages an advantage 
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of Operational procedures and processes such as Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS), Maintenance Operating Procedures (MOPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 
  • Understands basic software applications such as ServiceNow and Microsoft Office
