Your role 

The Business Development Representative (BDR) drives growth in Digital Realty services and solutions. The BDR qualifies and prioritizes leads and prospects by articulating the Digital Realty value proposition, messaging, and understanding customer needs and requirements. This position requires the ability to work independently and prioritize effectively. The BDR works directly with demand generation, marketing operations, and marketing to do outbound follow-up on programs and campaigns, and shares feedback on campaign effectiveness. This position will also interact with the field sales and channel teams to develop selling strategies, share progress, and generate opportunities for strategic, targeted campaigns. Since the BDR interacts with current and prospective clients, good business judgment and skills are crucial. While this is not a sales position, high performers can potentially transition to a sales role. 

What you’ll do 

  • Generate new demand (e.g. individual leads and/or buying groups) for the sales organization to pursue 
  • Qualify demand (e.g. individual leads and/ or buying groups) against established criteria before passing a lead to Sales as Teleprospecting Qualified leads (TQLs) or Teleprospecting Generated leads (TGLs)
  • Discover, validate and reach out to additional personas typically involved in a buying decision to determine possible buying groups for delivery to field sales 
  • Nurture predetermined groups of prospects back from field or channel sales by using multiple touch tactics (e.g. telephone, email, social) 
  • As a secondary responsibility – where specified by the organization – process inbound demand using a range of tactics (e.g. telephone, email, social) 
  • Comply with all demand management– related service-level agreements 
  • Provide accurate weekly forecasts to marketing and sales on the volume of qualified demand expected to reach the TQL stage or qualified demand stage 
  • Track and manage prospecting, qualification and nurture activities in the company’s sales force automation (SFA) system 
  • Reach and have meaningful, productive conversations with individuals representing the buyer personas targeted by the organization 

What you’ll need 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of marketing experience, with a focus on content.
  • Proven experience planning, executing, and measuring customer co-marketing initiatives
  • Proven ability to write about technical products/solutions. Existing data center industry knowledge is a bonus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
  • You possess a growth mindset, seeing opportunities and solutions when presented with challenges, and you are someone comfortable in an always-evolving environment.

Our published pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and geographical location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. Moreover, an employee’s total compensation package varies by role and may include salary, cash bonus or commissions, and equity awards not quantified below.
