What you’ll do 

  • Responsibility as the primary executor and owner of construction project safety goals established by Digital executive leadership team
  • Be in the internal and external SME and authority on construction safety on our project sites
  • Benchmark exiting status of construction safety for project sites with traditional metrics such as recordable incident rate to establish a baseline of current safety performance.
  • Establish and a develop and action to plan to achieve target reductions in key safety metrics such as recordable incident rate and quantity of near misses
  • Establish KPI’s to drive demonstrative improvement of safety performance and leading indicators of continued target safety performance
  • Foster deep relationships with key safety leadership stakeholders from contractor partners to ensure Digital’s culture of safety is embedded in all project sites
  • Coordinate the development of root cause analysis and action plans with contractor partners for safety incidents
  • Input all safety incidents into Digital’s safety tracking/reporting software system. Work with project teams to ensure all necessary information for accurate reporting is obtained
  • Lead internal and external customer reviews of safety incidents and action plans. 
  • Be a trusted ambassador of Digital’s safety commitment
  • Foster deep relationship with customer safety SMEs to improve customer experience and demonstrate Digital’s commitment to safety
  • Review existing and potential contractor partner safety metrics, standards, policies and procedures to insure industry leading compliance
  • Audit general contractor safety practices for jobsites to ensure compliance with their and Digital’s safety goals
  • Aggregate key data from contractor safety inspections and incidents across all jobsites to identify patterns and areas of focus to drive safety improvement plans both internally and externally
  • Communicate across all regions and jobsites to ensure any lessons learned are distributed, updates to internal safety policies, industry changes, etc. 
  • Coordinate across DLR cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with overall Digital EHS policies. Drive improvement of policies, especially as a SME in construction safety
  • Perform jobsite safety audits for compliance with safety procedures and industry best practices
  • Support design and construction teams to foster a culture of safety. 
  • Be a resource to solve safety challenges that arise in work execution. 
  • Develop action plans for safety improvement when contractor partners do not meet safety goals. You are a partner and resource to the design and construction teams with the primary and overarching goal of achieving our company development goals in the safest manner practical.
  • Review project drawings and standards as applicable to help ensure safety
  • Establish and implement training programs for D&C team for safety best practices/compliances (such as OSHA10/30)

What you’ll need 

  • Minimum of OSHA 30 certification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a safety professional in commercial construction, data center experience preferred
  • Individual should be self-motivated and willing to establish direction and tasks to further establish safety culture and requirements
  • Strong communication and teambuilding skills required to establish strong relationships with contractor partners, customers and internal team members
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Proficient with Microsoft office
