VP, Market Development (London/Amsterdam)

Position Title: VP, Market Development (London/Amsterdam)

Your role

As DLR expands into new locations, this is a fantastic opportunity to be a key contributor in developing  and executing go-to-market initiatives for these new regions. You will identify, build, and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers and partners that will enhance DLR’s ability to successfully operate in the new market. In addition you will conduct business development activities both in advance and after the data centre in the new market has been built/acquired. This role offers extensive autonomy plus exposure to the most senior players in the business and a genuine opportunity to really make an impact in one of the largest and most successful companies in the DC sector.

What you'll do 

  • Contribute to the success of DLR’s expansion into new markets by developing and executing effective go-to-market strategies for specific new cities.
  • Conduct market development activity before and after data centre is built / acquired.
  • Identify, build, and maintain relationships with key customers, suppliers and partners that will enhance DLR’s ability to successfully operate in the new market. 
  • Communicate DLR’s value proposition and vision for the new market to internal colleagues and external customers/partners. 
  • Contribute to due-diligence process in Acquisitions.
  • Provide monthly reports associated with execution of the go-to market initiatives in the new location, and input into Market Strategy’s Go-to-Market review process.
  • Take action to address underperformance in execution of go-to-market initiatives.
  • Provide progress updates to senior leadership team.
  • Provide input to Business Case for market entry, specifically related to strategic rationale, go-to-market strategy, connectivity approach, pricing, sales pipeline and fill rate.
  • Raise issues for consideration by Senior Executive team and recommend solutions
  • Assist with the storyboarding of market entry presentations to drive discussion at the Senior Executive level
  • Attend/participate in industry events that advance DLR’s geographic expansion strategy

Essential knowledge

  • Data Centre / Interconnection market
  • Telecommunications networking, terrestrial fibre and subsea systems
  • Interxion Communities of Interest

Competencies and Qualifications

  • Ability to influence and build relationships with a range of internal stakeholders (including Country Management, International Sales, Segment, DTEG, Legal and Finance) in order to drive customer value.
  • Well-organized and logical approach to work.
  • Execution focused.
  • A confident communicator and problem-solver, able to work in cross-functional teams and liaising with senior managers up to board level.
  • Fluent in business-level English, ideally with knowledge of at least one other European language.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; MBA a plus
  • 20+ years of business experience in a technology company
