Position Title: Data Centre Manager
Location: Dublin

Your role

Manage the site, coordinate and execute operational maintenance, review and optimise customer service activities.  Plan, prepare and coordinate build outs and provide operational technical sales and customer support.

What you’ll do

Manage the local operations organisation

  • Assists in the setting of the annual budget and short-long term development plan of the local operation
  • Determines the impact of short and long term business development
  • Sets up site plan with clear agenda and timeline. Keeps track of progress and reports quarterly
  • Executes maintenance plan for infrastructure (generators, cooling etc.) in collaboration with the Facility Manager and MO
  • Establishes and maintains an agreed (with corporate (DTEG) energy efficiency plan with clear measurable targets such as PUE
  • Ensures that internal resourcing levels as well as the availability of external resources and service providers  are sufficient for achievement of goals and in alignment with the site plan

Coordinate and execute site operational maintenance and customer service activities

  • Plans day-2-day data centre activities in the area of Customer Services and FM, considering the availability of site resources contractors and service providers
  • Manages and executes diagnostic and fault finding activities to ensure we meet client SLA’s
  • Reviews the PUE, identifies potential issues and determines corrective actions in order to improve site power and cooling efficiency
  • Makes sure that the entire infrastructure, facility and customer infrastructure, including building monitoring, alarm and building management systems are properly documented.
  • Generates multiple operation reports (e.g. SLA reports and Customer Monthly Power Reports) and maintains the Building Management System (BMS)
  • Reviews and evaluates progress with direct reports and the MO
  • Reviews, updates and implements operational policies, programs, procedures and guidelines
  • Ensures quality and security of technical operations and procedures for auditing including all Health & Safety and co-ordinates (external) site audits

Assistant to MO

  • Acts as a second line escalation point and prepares incident reports as required
  • Assists in responding to tenders, technical questions and RFP’s
  • Provides mechanical and electrical expertise for the day-to-day running of the data centres
  • Participate in any shift on-site roster when required
  • Negotiates and maintains (environmental) SLAs in line with agreed customer contracts and in internal guidelines
  • Supports in short and long term capacity, Capex & Opex budgets and planing
  • Acts as a technical / operational interface between Interxion and customers and as an expert in (complex / high impact) sales and negotiations.

What you'll need 

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience as a technician/engineer
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a managerial role
  • Proven track record working in a project management/service delivery in a technical field
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; mechanical or electrical engineering certification/qualifications are a plus
  • Excellent Microsoft Office, VISIO & Microsoft Project Skills with AutoCAD or similar drawing package skills a distinct advantage
  • Managing people, projects, budgets and functional areas, including knowledge of performance management, teambuilding and critical awareness methods
  • Familiarity with computerised maintenance management systems , building management systems, data centre infrastructure management and power metering systems
  • Experience in a commercial data centre, co-location environments considered an advantage
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical engineering in critical facilities including systems operations of HVAC package units, chillers, pumps etc.; mechanical equipment, generators, PDUs, UPS, static switches and ATSs; and N+ electrical power environments
  • Experience in an MV environment desirable
