Your role

Sitting within the wider EMEA - Design, Engineering & Construction function, the Regional Design Manager has direct responsibility for all data centre projects undertaken within their Region, leading and empowering a team of Design Managers and Senior Design Managers (DM’s & SDM’s). They oversee at a Regional level all complex design deliverables for multiple projects set against expectations of technical excellence, budget, milestone schedule objectives, and safe build techniques.  The Regional Design Manager (RDM) will, on occasion, also be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of projects in a similar manner to the Senior Design Managers (SDM’s).

An experienced, enthusiastic and proactive individual displaying good time management, organisational and presentation skills who is confident when chairing meetings with both Customers and other design and construction professionals with a technical background in any of the CSA and or MEPH disciplines with good construction management experience to ensure that DRT’s project delivery solutions are well considered and robust.  Operating strategically under their own initiative they control all aspects of technical design delivery inclusive of extensive relationship management within a large group of internal functions to key external Customer accounts. 

 

What you’ll need

  • A minimum of 7 to 10 years either data centre or heavily engineered/highly serviced building design experience ideally in a multi-disciplinary design environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the CSA or MEPH engineering disciplines or equivalent experience in a related field such as Construction Management will also be considered
  • A thorough understanding of the relationship between primary mechanical, electrical and ICT elements of design and in particular the commissioning of the same 
  • A previous involvement in the delivery of multiple large (£200m+) developments
  • Familiarity of gating processes/change control within an Owner Operator development organisation
  • An awareness of both Consultant and Contractor appointment contractual obligations
  • Confidence explaining and defending design decisions to Customers and Contractors
  • Fully engage in Supplier/Vendor relationship management as part of the OFCI VMI process
  • Provide regular input and direction as the Business looks to continually innovate and improve process noting the ability to flex to suit ongoing initiatives
  • To bring a pragmatic yet structured approach to developing and appraising technical solutions
  • Ability to clearly explain complex technical issues while driving solutions in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • To be able to succinctly and confidently communicate complex technical challenges at a range of levels of detail to a range of technical and non-technical audiences
