Your role

Digital Realty’s Global Product Management organization looking for an experienced Senior Manager, to help lead the acceleration of colocation space and power services across our global portfolio of data centers.  The Senior Manager, Global Product Management will blend technical and business expertise to champion cross functional efforts to develop colocation specific solutions.  The role requires a customer focus, a desire for constant improvement and a strong predisposition to action. 

The successful candidate will be a hands-on, forward-thinker responsible for turning strategic direction into tactical plans with a history of accomplishing stated objectives.  S/he will be expected to conceive, prioritize, develop and communicate solutions based on their extensive experience, understanding of market trends, customer needs and the competitive landscape overall.  The candidate must be organized, adept at planning and managing multiple activities concurrently, and possesses exceptional collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills.   

The Senior Manager, Global Product Management – Colocation will:

  • Define, refine, and maintain space, cooling, electrical power, and related support services (remote hands and eyes, storage, etc.) product standards globally.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on all elements of colocation space and power services for inquiries from Sales, Sales Engineering, Commercial Management, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal, et al.
  • Work with regional leaders to understand customer needs, data center capabilities, and operational abilities to craft and manage a unified product offering.
  • Manage and/or represent Product Management in various committees and initiatives.

What you’ll do

The Senior Manager, Global Product Management – Colocation key responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing existing colocation space and power offerings including feature sets, product definitions, policies, SLA, etc. and then leading cross functional teams to develop and/or harmonize said offerings (people, processes, and systems).
  • Evaluating colocation deployments to determine adherence to policies and opportunities to create improvements and efficiencies.
  • Developing global products and policies necessary to capture greater market share, drive revenue and margin uplift and/or satisfy other company objectives.
  • Creating and managing relationships to execute key initiatives leveraging your own technical aptitude, market experience, and project management skills.
  • Creating tools and analyzing data to expose, measure, and communicate program effectiveness while adapting as needed to ensure success.
  • Establishing and/or enforcing selling and solution policies within a culture of sales enablement and customer first balanced against a framework of business objectives and risk management.
  • Supporting internal teams’ understanding of our product offering, benefits, and features.
  • Providing training, sales support, exception review, document management/updates, and pricing input.
  • Becoming an expert in and owning the Quote to Report (QTR) for the colocation space, power and remote hands offerings.

What you’ll need

To be a good fit as the Senior Manager, Global Product Management – Colocation, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or experience equivalent to 10+ years of developing and managing solutions in the multi-tenant data center space.  An advance degree is preferred. 
  • Direct experience with data centers, data center services and data center related business.
  • Direct experience with data center power and cooling distribution infrastructure.
  • Experience with capacity planning concepts in a data center environment.
  • Strong understanding of data center figures and metrics including but not limited to utilization per square foot or meter, watts and kilowatts, and Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
  • Strong Excel and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented organizational skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English, including the ability to develop and deliver executive level communications especially with PowerPoint.
  • Independence, motivation, and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work throughout the company to ensure critical business execution.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10% to15% of the time.
