Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst

Position Title: Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst

 

Your role

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst is responsible for ensuring the business makes better decisions through collection and usage of data. Ensures business data and analysis requirements are met by properly applying data concepts, including data structures, collection, cleansing, analysis and reporting.  In addition to the overall collection, analysis and reporting of financial and operational data, the BI Analyst will often assume the project management of information/data driven projects which align with the organization’s continued commitment to being a robust data-centric organization.  

 

What you’ll do

  • Work directly with Sr. Management to develop data driven performance KPIs which align with operational strategies and objectives
  • Develop reporting tools and deliverables that highlight historical and future performance trends, including budget forecasts, capital expenditure value, headcount requirements, and value deliverables.
  • Identify performance drivers and correlations between multiple data dimensions
  • Responsible for establishing partnerships and fostering productive working relationships with other business units in the organization to understand business needs, drivers and constraints.
  • Take ownership of collaborative efforts, across multiple business units, to identify and develop process improvement initiatives
  • Drive ad hoc projects to collect, analysis and summarize financial and operational data, sometimes with minimal identification of data sources
  • Communicate with technical and non-technical end users, providing clear explanation of procedures used and results obtained from data analysis tasks
  • Collect and summarize customer service data, including request types, response times and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor, analyze and address potential operational and risk areas for the company based on data analysis.
  • Partner with the Enterprise Technology Services team to develop, design and implement systems to support business reporting and statistics requirements.

What you’ll need

  • BS in Business, Finance, IT/Data, Statistics, or related field
  • 7-10 years performing large scale business analysis, collaborating with multiple organization departments (Operations, Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Engineering)
  • Familiarity with cloud based data platforms (Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Amazon Web Services, Oracle)
  • Data visualization skills (Power BI, Tableau, Robust PowerPoint/Excel, Looker)  – Ability to represent key data points using most effective visual/graphics based methods
  • Strong understanding of basic statistical skills – Correlation, data distribution,  time forecast trends, standard deviation, clustering
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate to a technical solution for software development and analytic reporting
  • Advance Excel knowledge – Pivot tables/charts, formulas, data connections.  (VBA and/or Smart View experience a plus) 
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Effective at building and managing teams in a matrix organization
  • Experience in real estate finance
  • Strong communication skills, including technical writing, executive presentation, field communications, persuasive requisitions, and training materials

Preferred

  • MBA or equivalent
  • SQL query experience
  • Experience with Python or ‘R’
  • Basic understanding of real estate and GAAP accounting
