Sr. Account Manager

Your role

The Account Manager has authority, within the boundaries set by the Sales Manager/ Director, Sales & Marketing Director and/or the MD and the company’s overall segment, product and commercial strategies, for the proactive maintenance and growth of his/her assigned portfolio of existing local accounts.It operates at a high level of autonomy, but must work across functions, closely collaborating with local Management, Sales, Marketing and Operations teams, and with (as appropriate) International, Marketing & Strategy, Finance and Legal, mobilizing Interxion resources in achieving its account portfolio/growth objectives.

The role has authority and discretion to set and negotiate product/service/sales terms within the parameters set by Commercial Strategy, Product, Finance and Legal.The role coordinates medium to sometimes large sales teams and processes from lead to cash, but without supervisory authority.

Accounts are local, however, can be substantial and high profile, spanning broad geographic areas (Plus). Contact is with all decision maker levels up to senior level.


A bit about our sales team

Our Sales team is at the sharp end of our business, securing new customers from network and cloud service providers through to all kinds of major global and regional enterprises and local businesses. We help identify the objectives of our customers and enable them to succeed by combining our strategic knowledge of the industry, technical knowledge of our global data center platform, PlatformDIGITAL®, with our ability to develop strong partnerships.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Proactively maintain and grow customer revenue
  • Actively manage and grow the run rate revenue base of the assigned portfolio of local accounts in close collaboration with local Finance and Sales Support
  • Proactively lead ongoing contract management and renewals to maximize customer value, including indexation and churn mitigation, novations and relocations, in alignment with segment, product and commercial guidelines  
  • Actively identify, qualify, pursue (design and propose), negotiate and close new business, product and expansion opportunities in close collaboration with local Management and Operations team, as well as Marketing & Strategy and Legal
  • Conduct commercial, new contract and contract expansion negotiations within own delegated authority and predefined ranges/guidelines, covering all contract aspects (price, SLAs, liabilities)
  • Drive customer participation in, and attendance and exposure to Interxion Marketing events and initiatives 
  • Lead/drive all of the above across markets for identified Plus Accounts, closely collaborating with the relevant local Management, Sales (International Relationship Manager) and Operations teams   
  • Achieve run rate revenue growth and new bookings targets
  • Prepare and facilitate hand-over to Operations
  • Conduct proper hand over of closed business to Customer Implementation Team (client documentation and requirements) and support CIM during the implementation process if required
  • Ensure proper information maintenance in Salesforce
  • Maintain up to date and accurate information on all customer and sales activity in
  • Manage opportunities in compliance with Sales processes and policies and Sales standards of performance


  • Educated to Bachelor/Master level
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in a consultative selling area, preferably in IT Services, Telecom or Financial Markets’ environment
  • Broad business network and contact data base
  • Good understanding of Microsoft office applications
  • Good team-working skills
  • Fluent in (business level) English
